About

I'm Jairet, and I'm from the mountains of Northern California — where it snows. Seriously.

As you can see above, the town is called Twain Harte, and it's pretty damn small. Growing up in this petri-dish-sized place, as much as I value it, gave me a heavy desire to get out and see the world beyond US borders.

After finishing my Bachelor's degree in International and Intercultural Communication Studies, I took an opportunity to teach English at the prestigious Chitralada Royal Palace School in Bangkok.

During my stay, I used every three-day weekend and all my vacation time to experience as much of South East Asia as I could. Near the end of my second year, the thirst for new cultures and countries had returned, and I set my sights on South America.

Machu Picchu, Cartagena, and the Galapagos Islands were just a few places that left me in awe, but on my way back to the US I regretted not getting a Brazilian visa (which brings up another story about visa privilege).

My mind was made up that I would have to go back.

Currently, I'm in Brazil loving life — drinking caipirinhas, eating churrasco, speaking plenty of português, and pretending that I'm learning to surf.

If you have questions about Thailand, Brazil, traveling and teaching English in those countries, or visa information, please send me an email. It's a pleasure to make sure you benefit from anything I learned along the way.

I look forward to hearing from you! ✌
